Memorial to the Watch Committees & Magistrates of Manchester & Salford : We, the undersigned Residents and Ratepayers in Manchester and Salford, desire respectfully to draw the attention of the Watch Committees and of the Magistrates to the increasing number of brothels and the alarming and degrading prevalence of prostitution ... In support of this Memorial we lay before the Committees and Magistrates a copy of the Resolutions passed at a Meeting held in the Association Hall on the 22nd January, 1883, the Right Rev. the Lord Bishop of Manchester in the chair, together with Extracts from the Acts now in force in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and sundry other Extracts showing chiefly how these Acts have worked.
