Description:
Cumberland. Hand coloured map with latitude and longitude marked around the edge. The map is very rich in detail including cities, place names, rivers and parks. Counties are differentiated by different colours. The title is given in a simple frame at centre top. Top left is a large sketch of Carlisle cathedral, and a simple compass rose. Bottom right is an 'Explanation' of the symbols used and a 'Reference to the Wards'. In the centre at the bottom is a small scale bar. Printed along the bottom is: 'Published by Pigot & co. 24 Basing Lane, London & Fountain St. Manchester.' Printed bottom right is: 'Engraved on steel by Pigot & son Manchester'.
