Carte de visite photograph of Charles Darwin; this dates from 1892, so is a later reproduction of a picture taken during Darwin’s lifetime, produced by Eliot and Fry. The card gives Darwin’s birth and death dates. On the reverse is an inscription, probably by Meta Gaskell, indicating that the photograph was received by her on 4 July 1892 from [Darwin’s son] Mr W.E. Darwin.
