Description:
Moveable, card optical toy depicting Christabel Pankhurst. The first picture shows her portrait with the outstretched hands of British police on either side and a French policeman chasing her from behind. A verse above reads, 'They seek her here, They seek her there, Detectives Prowling Everywhere. Their Heads with Big Importance Swell'. Her dress, the police uniforms and text are coloured green, her hair brown and their skin pink. The second picture shows two British policemen colliding and a French policeman on his hands and knees under them, examining the ground with a magnifying glass. A small dog with a speech bubble saying ‘A clue?’ is next to the French policeman. A caption above reads, 'She's Gone! ELUSIVE CHRISTABEL'. The policemen, dog and text are coloured blue, the policemen’s skin pink. The card tab at the bottom instructs, ‘move up and down gently’ to change the scene from the first picture to the second.
