Rural landscape view of the Lane Cove River, northern tributary of the Parramatta River, tide-dominated, drowned valley estuary west of Sydney Harbour, Sydney, New South Wales. Trees, shrubs, and woodland surrounding the entire area; alongside a large rock formation is bordering the river. Handwritten caption(s) in ink or pencil on the album page: 'Fresh water pool above the head of Lane Cove, about 100 yards from the picnic place'.

Notes:
• Monochrome photographic print, mounted on paper. Bound in an album with a total of 113 photographs of places in Sydney, and of friends and colleagues at the Sydney Royal Mint, taken or compiled by William Stanley Jevons during the 1850s. Between 1854-1859 Jevons was employed as Assayer at the Sydney Royal Mint and also carried out detailed social surveys of the city's slums. • Print 101 also appears in album JA/33/1/1 as print 147.
