Curious letter to Arthur Helps thanking him for a book and talking of the 'many deep regrets that trouble me now.' He comments on the 'strength and time in unwrapping a mummy' and states that there is 'here and there a grain of wheat - which would feed a hundredfold - if anybody cared to plant it.' He ends with the statement: 'all I can say is - fervently - thank God it's done.'
