Description:
This 1824 edition of the Bible, published by Cadell & Davies, is a reissue of the 1800 illustrated Bible published by Thomas Macklin. For the new edition, several new headpiece and tailpiece vignettes were designed, and others were adapted. The tailpiece to the Song of Solomon, designed by Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg and engraved by John Landseer was a new design for the 1824 edition, replacing another vignette by the same designer and engraver in the 1800 edition. Publication line: "Published Aug 3, 1819 by T Cadell & W Davies London".
