Description:
This 1824 edition of the Bible, published by Cadell & Davies, is a reissue of the 1800 illustrated Bible published by Thomas Macklin. For the new edition, several new headpiece and tailpiece vignettes were designed, and others were adapted. The headpiece to Leviticus, designed by Philippe-Jacques de Loutherbourg and engraved by John Landseer was a new design for the 1824 edition, replacing a design by Thomas Stothard in the 1800 edition. Publication line: "London Published by Cadell & Davies 5 Nov 1812".
