Copy is extensively annotated over many years by the Manchester surgeon Robert Wagstaff Killer and by one or two other owners (ca. 1797-1840). On the t.p. the signature R. W. Killer (above which is an incomplete signature of another member of the Killer family). The annotations are found both in the text and on the interleaves. Inscribed at the front: From the library of Richard Hawkin (York). 1954. / J.F.C.Harrison. Accompanied by a three page letter (headed University of Leeds) from John Harrison, York to Mrs. Knight, dated Mar. 10, 1955, in which he suggests what the future of this copy of the directory should be. Also has Manchester Public Libraries compliments slip pasted in.
