Race and Television in Britain, report of the Channels of Diversity seminar, from the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE).
This CRE report was the result of the Channels of Diversity seminar which took place on March 14, 1996. The seminar aimed to gather together senior producers, and decision makers from the BBC and ITV companies, as well as independent programme makers, actors and researchers, to examine:
- the implications of research carried out into the representation of ethnic minorities on British television, and the findings of a qualitative survey of ethnic minority opinions regarding television output;
- determine what future action is required to ensure that television contributes to the development of a just and fair society that reflects the cultural diversity of contemporary Britain.
