Newspaper cutting from the Manchester Guardian, Tuesday, June 30, 1908. Article entitled 'Peterloo Recalled: A Memorial to 'Orator' Hunt'. A Henry Hunt obelisk (1842) erected by the Chartists in Ancoats quickly fell into ruin. Attempts for another monument in the 1880s failed. A bronze medallion designed and executed by John Cassidy. it was unveiled by C.P. Scott on June 29 1908 at the Manchester Reform Club. Currently survives in the collections of the Science & Industry Museum, Manchester (MOSI).
