Description:
Original prospectus for the Manchester Guardian. The reformer and cotton merchant, John Edward Taylor was present at Peterloo and later a member of the Relief Committee which collected money for the victims. He founded the Manchester Guardian in 1821 (today the Guardian). The prospectus was issued a month before the publication of the first edition of the Manchester Guardian (5th May 1821) explaining the aims and objectives of the proposed newspaper.
