The masque of anarchy: a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley; now first published, with a preface by Leigh Hunt. Shelley wrote this powerful poem in response to the Peterloo Massacre. He praises the non-violent stance of the Manchester protesters when faced with state aggression. It did not appear in print during his life time.
