Fifteenth-century manuscript inscription in dark red ink beneath colophon on leaf [p8]r: "Lib[rum] hu[n]c Canonicis Regularib[us] Lateran[ensibus] i[n] monast[er]io diui Joa[n]nis bap[tis]t[a]e de viridaria Padu[a]e age[n]tib[us]: uir uenerabil[is] ac deuot[us] [Christ]i sac[er]dos: & bona[rum] artiu[m] cultor: gr[a]ece. Latine. Hebraice [a]eque p[er]itissim[us]. d. Petr[us] Mo[n]tagnana: optima fide. pietatis studio: p[ro]q[ue] salute adscripsit atq[ue] donau[i]t. que[m] q[ui]sq[ue] lege[n]s p[ro]ficiat p[ri]mu[m]: dei[n]de sit grat[us]. M.CCCC.LXXVIII.". The inscription records the gift of the book to the Augustinian Canons Regular of the Lateran, S. Johannes Baptista in Viridario (San Giovanni di Verdara), Padua, in 1478 by Petrus de Montagnana. According to Index Possessorum Incunabulorum, Petrus de Montagnana was grammar teacher and rector of San Firmo, Padua, who retired in 1457 to the monastery and to which he gave and bequeathed his library.
