Decoration: illuminated and painted page by the Putti Master (workshop) on leaf: printed text enclosed within a rectangular frame resembling a marble stele resting on a base all in pale green ink; the frieze of the base with two sea-centaurs painted in red and gold against a pink ground, flanking a green wreath with red ribbons containing the painted coat of arms of Barbarigo of Venice (argent on a bend azure between six beards sable, three lions rampant or) on a red ground; on the top of the stele is a leafy face and foliage painted in red, pink and gold; an area of shredded blue sets the monument off from the vellum; 5-line initial 'S' in gold with red and pink vine foliage on a dark blue rectangle. "The artist is probably another member of the workshop, and should be identified with the assistant who later decorated the Paris Lactantius of 1478 with a very similar frontispiece" -- Lilian Armstrong, Renaissance miniature painters & classical imagery: the Master of the Putti and his Venetian workshop (London: Harvey Miller, 1981), no. 28.
