Description:
Sixteenth-century[?] coat of arms painted at foot of leaf: Or a horse salient sable, a mullet to the left of the head; with manuscript name 'Io De Sta' [Giovanni de Stabile?] at the sides of the arms. Very faint manuscript inscription next to the coat of arms, visible under UV light: "Joannes [et?] Stabilis / Stabilibus [et?] Firmo" [Giovanni de Stabile?]. Eighteenth century black oval ink-stamp at foot of leaf: 'Biblioth: Corsinia vetus' [i.e. Biblioteca Corsiniana, in Rome; founded by Lorenzo Corsini (subsequently Pope Clement XII); the 'Bibliotheca Corsinia vetus' stamp was added by the librarian Nicola Foggini in 1784 to distinguish the old family collection from later acquisitions (marked as 'nova'); now part of the Biblioteca dell'Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei].
