Decoration: North Italy, fifteenth-century, illuminated border on all four sides of dense white vine-stems with fine penwork, defined in blue, gold, green, and red, incorporating a gold initial 'C', in the outer margin a large seated bird in a tiny landscape, and in the lower margin a green wreath containing a defaced coat of arms (azure a tower (or castle) gules), the whole border outlined in gold.
