View of Dorothy Vernon's Steps, Haddon Hall, Derbyshire. External stone steps leading from an exit to the stone country house. The origins of the hall date to the 11th century with numerous additions through the years. The steps are connected to the legend that Dorothy Vernon, second daughter of Sir George Vernon and heiress to Haddon Hall fled down the same steps and away from the Hall to elope with John Manners in 1563.
