Two women sit atop a horse drawn carriage with a blanket across their knees. The carriage is marked: By Royal Warrant to His Majesty the King, J.Lyons & Co. Ltd., Universal caterers. Head Office and & Steam Bakeries, Cadby Hall, Kensington. J.Lyons was founded in 1886 as a catering business. In 1894 it was incorporated into a public company and established its head office and food factories at Cadby Hall in Hammersmith. It was one of the largest food factories in the UK.
