Description:
The interior of the reading room in the Christie Library (now Christies Bistro). Taken from one end of the room looking down the central aisle between the book stacks. It shows a row of columns running to either side of the aisle supporting the decorated ceiling above and between these and the wall tall wooden bookcases forming the sides of alcoves for the reading tables. At the far end of the room can be seen a pair of portraits too indistinct for their subjects to be made out. At the bottom of the picture has been printed ‘The Christie Library reading room and reference library’.
