Description:
Black and white photograph: interior of the students union coffee bar housed in the old Welsh chapel on Lime Grove (since demolished). Taken from the end of the nave, the shot is angled back towards the counter through a crowded dining room. There are a number of students visible in the picture, both male and female, relaxing around the tables distributed throughout the canteen. Beyond these at the far end of the church lies the service counter spanning the width of the nave, behind which stand three women serving refreshments. Above them, set high into the end wall of the chapel, is a large, ornate arched window. At ninety degrees to this, along the northern side of the dining room, the gothic arches that lined the nave on both sides can be seen overtopped by church style windows, interspersed with the buttresses that supported the beams of the vaulted roof.
