Description:
The interior of the sanitary engineering laboratory in the main UMIST building; Taken from the south west corner of the room the shot is angled towards the southern wall overlooking two rows of desks which run the length of the lab. On the southern wall placed between the windows that look out onto Granby Row there are a number of porcelain toilets with their associated cisterns and plumbing fixed in place. On the northern wall there is an array of shelving and glass fronted cabinets which contain pipes and other fittings along with bottles and a number of framed diagrams too distant from the photographer to be made out clearly. The sanitary engineering lab was located on the first floor (floor C) of the building in the western wing. The number '57' is written in the corner on the reverse of the image.
