Silver casket, decorated with scenes of Manchester, the red rose of Lancaster and the Manchester coat of arms. The casket was presented to Charles Prestwich Scott when he received the freedom of the city of Manchester, April 8th 1930. It once held the original freedom scroll. This view shows an embossed scene of Manchester Town Hall and on either side the red rose of Lancaster. Four hallmark symbols can be seen near the bottom: T. A. & B in an oval which is the makers mark; an anchor which is the symbol for the Birmingham assay office; the lion passant (walking lion) is the symbol for English sterling silver (925) and the E indicates the year 1929.
