The Labour Monthly 162 Buckingham Palace Road London, SW1 Sir, While the “Times” newspaper is engaging in polemics on the subject of the weakness of the Labour Press, It may be of interest to your readers to know that the Chief Clerk of that sheet (together with the Manager of the “Morning Post”) has declined to accept for publication an advertise- ment announcing special articles on the British Empire and the Imperial Conference in the October issue of the “Labour Monthly”. This same advertisement was considered sufficiently polite for publication in the “Manchester Guardian” and the “Spectator”. The action of the Times Publishing Company seems, perhaps, to pay a higher tribute to the influence of the Magazine of International Labour than it does to the stability of the British Empire. Yours &c., Arthur E.E. Reade, MANAGER. P.S. The principles of the “Times” while compelling it to refuse our announcements, permitted it, however, to publish the advertisement of another review which featured in its list of contents this month, an article entitled: “Pillory - Murder, and the Labour Monthly”.
