Description:
Frontispiece marking the commencement of the second division of the psalter (the psalter is divided into three fifties). The folio is occupied by the title and beginning to Psalm fifty one, 'Quid gloriaris...'. Occupying almost the full length of the page is a zoomorphic initial 'Q' filled with panels of interlace, rosettes, lozenges, quatrefoils and stylised foliage. The bracket comprises interlace flanked by the heads of two back biting beasts. The title is in coloured capitals, black capitals infilled with colour and red uncials with alternate lines filled with colour. The elements of the colour scheme are red, purple, black, blue, green and yellow.
