Description:
Ink drawing coloured in green and red: Coronation of Edmund. Anglo-Norman poem, originally written c. 1180. It chronicles the life and miracles of St Edmund, King of the East Angles, who was killed by the Danes in the 9th century. This section refers to his coronation at Bures (Bures St Mary). He is crowned by Iluk, with Bishop Hubert officiating at the service. The poem is attributed to Denis Piramus, who was probably a cleric at the Abbey in Bury-Saint-Edmunds, Suffolk during the late 12th and early 13th centuries. There are 32 lines to a page.
