Description:
Fall of Princes. Book one: even before his birth Jove said to Juno that Hercules (Heracles) would be the noblest of the noble but Juno favoured another called Eurystheus. Hercules undertook all the labour and Eurystheus took all the glory. Hercules stands ashamed before Boccaccio because his love of Iole tarnished his reputation as a hero. For the love of Iole Hercules shaved his beard and wore women's clothes. Small illuminated and coloured initials introduce the verses. The written space is 285 x 200 mm in two columns and the script is rather an ugly and unstable anglicana formata.
