in to þe kinges hande alle here landes of holy chirche þat were ȝe uen vnto eny man þorugh þe Erchebisshop Stephene or by þe P(ri)o(ur) of Caunterbery fram þe time of þe elecciou(~) of þe Erchebisshop and comaunded þat alle þe wodes þat were þe Erchebisshoppes shulde ben caste a doun vnto þe g(ro)unde and alle solde How king John destroyede þe ordre of Cisteaux Ca(o) xl(o) ix(o). And in þe same tyme þe Jrisshe men bigunne for to werre vppon king John(~). and king. Joh(a)n ordeignede him for to wende in to Jrlande. and lete arere an huge taxe þorugh out al Engelond þat is to seyne .xxxv þousand marc and sente þorugh al Engelonde to þe monkes of þe ordre of Cis teaux þat þey shulde helpe him of sixe .M(l). marc of siluer // & þey ansuerede and saide þat þey dorste no þing done wiþoute hire chief Abbot of Cisteaux. wherfore king. Joh(a)n. whanne he come aȝene from Jrlonde he dede ham so muche sorwe and care þat þey nysten where for to abide. for he toke so muche raun some of eu(er)y hous of ham þat þe somme amountede .ix. M(l). & .iij.
