And after þis : þe king wente vnto Wilton(~) and wolde haue made a castel þ(er) ; but þo come to him þe erl of Gloucestr(e) wiþ a strong poer and almost had taken þe king: but ȝit þe king ascapede w(t) muche peyne. and Will(ia)m Martell þere was take. and for whos delyu(er)aunce þe king ȝaf vnto þe Erl of Gloucestr(e) þe good castel of. Shirborne. þat he had take // And whanne þis was done: þe Erl Rob(er)t and alle þe kinges enemys wenten to ffaryngdou(~) and bygonne for to make þere a st(ro)ng castel: but þe king w(t) a st(ro)ng poer drof ham þennes in þat same ȝere // þe Erl Randulph of Chestr(e) was accorded w(t) þ(e) king and come to his court at his co(~)maundem(~)t and þe Erl wende haue saufliche come: and þe king anon lete take him and pulte him in to p(ri)soun and moste neu(er)e for no þing come out þ(er)of til þat he had ȝelde vp vnto þe king þe castel of Nichole. þe which he had take f(ro)m þe king wiþ strengthe in þe .xv. ȝere of his regne of king Stephene //And Gaufride þe Erl of Angon(~) ȝaf vp to Henry his sone al Normandye.
