Description:
The words 'William 1' appear in the top margin, and the words 'William 2' in the right margin of the folio. The tale of how King William dies in France. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how King William Rous (Rufus) reigns after his father's death, how he founded the New Forest, how he argued with the Archbishop of Canterbury, and opposed all things of the Church and of God. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

Cao. vjxx. xiiijo. And after þis Will(ia)m Bastard regnede his sone Will(ia)m þe Rous. and þis Will(ia)m was a wonder con(ra)rious ma(~). to god and to holy chirche and lete amende and make þe toun of Cardeys. þat þe paynimes had destroiede // This king Will(ia)m dest(ro)iede holy chirche and alle hire possessiouns in what p(ar)t he mighte ham fynde: and þ(er)fore þ(er)e was so muche debate bituene him and þe Erchebisshop of Kaunt(er)- bury.
