Description:
The traitor Edrik takes Edmund's sons to King Knoght, who then kills Edrik. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' H ' introduce the tale of how King Knoght (Canute) then sends the two boys to Denmark to try to get rid of them. The text ends imperfectly at the bottom of the folio at 'he had of ham'. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

hire gete. þat on me callede Edward and þ(t) oþ(er) Edwyn. and lad ham wiþ him vnto londou(~) and toke ham vnto king knoght þat he shulde do with ham what his wille were & tolde him how queyntely he had queld king Edmond for enchesou(~) and loue of him: so þ(t) king. Knought. al Engelond in his poer onliche mighte haue // O þow fals traito(ur) hastow my trewe wedbroþ(er) slayn for enchesou(~) of me: a man þat J most louede in þe worlde. Now by myn heuede y shal for þy trauayle þe wel rewarde as þow hast des(ir)ued and anon lete him take and bynde hondes and feet in man(er) of a t(ra)y- to(ur) and lete caste him in þe Thamyse. and in þis man(er) þe false trayto(ur) endede his lif // þe king nome þe too children and toke ham to þ(e) Abbot of Westmynstr(e) to warde and to kepe til he wiste what was best w(t) ham to done. How king knoght sente boþe Edmundes sones in to Denmarc for to slee and how þey were sauede Capo Centesimo xixmo.
