so þat boþe his enemys were dede. and whanne Constantin hadde regned worthily .iiij. ȝere. he deide and lith at Londou(~) Of þe kinges Adelbright and of Edelf Capo xxiiij. xjo. After king Constantinus deth. þere were .ij. kinges in Britaigne þat on me callede Adelbright þat was a danoys. and helde þe cuntrey of Northfolc and southfolc þat oþ(er)e highte. Edell. and was a Britoun(~) and helde. Nichole. Lyndesye and al þe lande vn to Humber // þese .ij. kinges faste werrede togedres: but aftirward þey we- ren accorded and louede togidre as þey had ben born of o body // þe king Edelf had a suster þat me callede Ore- wenne and he ȝaf hire þorugh gret frendshipe to king Adelbright. to wyf and he bigate in hire a doughter þat me callede Argentill. and in þe .iij ȝer after him com vp on a strong siknesse þat nedes he moste dye and he sente to king Edelf his broþ(er) in lawe þat he shulde come and speke wiþ him and he come to him wiþ good wille // þo praiede he þe king and coniurede also in þe name of god þat aft(er) whanne he were dede he shulde take Argentille his dought(er) and þe lande and þat he kepte hire wel and norisshede in his chambre and whanne she were of age he shulde don hire ben maried to þe strengeste and wor- thiest man þat he mighte fynde: and þanne he shulde ȝelde vp hire lande aȝen. Edelf it g(ra)untede and by oth it confermede his p(ra)yer // And whanne Adelbright was dede and entered. Edelf toke þe damisel Argentil and norisshede hire in his chambr and she bicome þe fayrest creature þat myȝte lyf or eny man fynde.
