Description:
The reign of Rynallo (Reynolde). Then follows the tale of Gorbodian, Rynallo's son. The next story is that of Ferrex and Porrex. Ferrex kills his brother Porrex, and in revenge, their mother Ydoyne kills Ferrex. Each tale is introduced by red rubrication and an illuminated initial. Red rubrication for the next tale appears at the bottom of the folio. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

and wonder wel made him biloued of al maner folc // And in his tyme it raynede blood þat laste .iij. daies as god wol de and some after þe(r) come a grete deth of poeple for hostes withoute noumbre of peple . foughten til þat þey were dede . wher of no man mighte ham lette til þat almyghty god þer of toke mercy and piete and þo gan it cesse . and þis Reynol de regnede xxij . ȝer and deide and lith at york . How Gor – bodian regnede in pees þat was Reynoldes sone and after he deide and lith at york . Capitulo . xvjo. After þis Reynolde regnede Gorbodian his sone .xv. ȝere and deide and lith at yorke How Gorbodian had .ij. sones and how þat on slough þat oþ(er) for to haue þe heritage and how ydoyne her mooder quelde þat oþ(er) wher- [...] fore þe lande was destroyed . Capo. xvijmo. Whanne þi(s) [...] Gorbodian was dede his .ij. sones þat he hadde bico- men stoute and proute and euere werrede togide(r) for þe lande þat on me callede . fferreȝ . and ȝat oþer porres . And þis fferreȝ wolde haue had al þe land but þat oþ(er) wolde nouȝt suffre him . fferreȝ hadde a felouns herte and pough- te þorugh tresou(~) sle his broþer . but p(re)ueleche he wente in to ff(ra)unce and þere abode with þe king Syward .til oppon a tyme þat he come aȝen and faught with his broþ(er) fferreȝ : but ful euel it happede þo for he was slayn ferst // whan- ne ydoyne hire moder wiste þat Porreȝ was ded she ma de gret sorwe . for enchesou(~) þat she loued him more þan þat oþ(er) and þoughte him for to quelle p(re)uely and pry- uely she come to hire sone oppon a nyght with .ij. knyfes and þer with cotte his þrote and þe body also in to sma- le peces . ho herd euer such a cursed moder þat quelde with hire owen handes hir owen sone and long tyme after laste þe reprof and shame to þe mooder : þat for en- chesou(~) of þat o sone mordred þat oþer and so lost ham boþe How .iiij. kinges curteisleche helde al Britaigne and whiche beþ hire names .
