Is part of Théâtre de l'vnivers : contenant les cartes de tout le monde (1581). Approximate scale calculated from scale bar at foot of map (1 in. = ca. 40 miles). A bifolium from the French translation of Ortelius' Theatrum orbis terrarum (Théâtre de l'vnivers ). With French text on a half of verso (i.e. page 8 of original atlas), headed "Les isles Britanniques." All text on the map itself is in the original Latin. Relief shown pictorially. Oriented with west at the top of sheet. Text panel at lower right with a decorative cartouche and text beginning "Britannia oim insularum ..." English royal coat of arms at top left of sheet.
