Description:
|
Shropshire. Monochrome with ornate border, the map is very rich in detail including cities, place names, rivers and mountains. Castles, mountains and significant buildings are illustrated by drawings. Inset on the left are three coats of arms including those of Roger Montgomery and John Talbot. On the right is a map of Shrewsbury with a key to significant places. Bottom left is a compass rose and a scale bar. The inscription here reads: 'Performed by John Speed and are to be sold by Henry Overton at the White Horse without Newgate London'. A framed paragraph bottom right describes the Battle of Olfeilde in Shrewsbury.
