Description:

Six lines of verse with imprint above, all within a border of type ornaments in the shape of a house. Thomas Howgrave was in practice in Stamford as a surgeon and apothecary from 1744, and succeeded his grandfather Francis as the owner of the Stamford Mercury in 1771. Mary Jackson was probably a junior member of the printing staff. Attached to lower inner cover of R219356.1: 'Reflections for every day in the year: on the works of God in nature and providence'.
