Autograph letter to Guizot, then minister of the Interior, concerning the French archaeologist, N. Didron (cf. letters VMH/1/171/1-10).
Guizot was an important French Historian and politician. He started his career at the Sorbonne, teaching and writing books on British History, which he admired. After the Revolution of 1830, he played a key role in almost every government of the July Monarchy, as minister of the Interior (1830), Public Instruction (1832-1837) and Foreign Affairs (1840-1848). He left politics after the Revolution of 1848.
