Description:
Sixteenth-century Parisian armorial binding for Henri II and Diane of Poitiers, possibly by Claude de Picques. Greek style. Full goatskin over wooden boards with grooved edges; multiple fillets and tooling to form a border; central cartouche with the arms of Henry II; four fleur-de-lis, three interlaced crescents and monogram: intertwined initials H and D; both boards have four holes which previously held protective pins or bosses.
