Sixteenth-century Parisian armorial binding for Henri II and Diane of Poitiers, possibly by Claude de Picques. Greek style. Full goatskin over wooden boards with grooved edges; the upper board-edges have holes for pins onto which ties or clasps would catch; all edges are gilt and gauffered with dots and floral motifs; top edge has letters D; bottom edge has three interlaced crescents; fore-edge has the letter H.
