Description:
|
Single line engraving in black ink. Blake ensured this composition was simple and profound. From the towering figure of Christ on the left, the diagonal sweep of his outstretched arms creates a pictorial hierarchy which degrades to the figures of the comforters who are unworthy of even witnessing this vision. In the middle Job and his wife bask in the flare of divine light and receive the blessing of Christ. Interestingly, Christ is also portrayed in Job's image as well, creating a quasi-trinity from the shared experiences of the three figures God, Job and Christ.
