Employment Report Supplement: FROM WORDS TO ACTION: Progress on the Race Relations Code of Practice by the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE). For the elimination of racial discrimination and the promotion of equality of opportunity in employment. The Code was a set of recommendations and guidance on how racial discrimination in employment could be avoided. It contained general advice on the policies that were needed, and detailed recommendations. In passing the Race Relations Act, Parliament empowered the CRE to draw up Codes of Practice for employment. The Code was approved by Parliament and was an authoritative guide to good practice in the employment field.
