The Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) was a non-departmental public body in the UK which aimed to address racial discrimination and promote racial equality. The commission was established in 1976, and disbanded in 2007 when its functions were taken over by the newly created Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The year 2006 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the creation of the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE).
This CRE anthology brings together thirty writers and poets, one for each year of the CRE's life, to reflect on the transformation of Britain over a 30 year period.
