An original copy of the block-printed Hyakumanto Dhāraṇī text, commissioned by the Empress Shōtoku (718-770) of Japan, which is one of the earliest surviving examples of printed text. The Dhāraṇī scroll, a Buddhist invocation or prayer, was meant to be housed inside the accompanying miniature wooden pagoda. Text comprised of 31 columns of 5 lines each.
