Description:
Eight-line initial 'B' is supplied in blue with reserved white decoration, filled with blue and red penwork decoration, and with red penwork extensions. Paragraph marks supplied in alternating blue and red; underlining of chapter headings and beginning of verses in red, some capital strokes in red. Unidentified late fifteenth- or early sixteenth-century Italian[?] coat of arms on a horse-head shield: azure, three escallops [defaced] argent (d'azzurro, a tre conchiglie[?] d'argento), above which are the manuscript initials "M IO" (in blue), with red curling lines and knotted ropework. The arms have been slightly painted over, and are thus later, than an earlier set of manuscript initials in brown ink: ".F. .T.".
