Description:
Manuscript inscription in a fifteenth or sixteenth century hand in thick black ink at foot of leaf: "Dom[us] m[o]ntelli.", followed by "H[?].3" in a later hand in fainter brown ink [possibly the Cartusia Montelli, i.e. the Carthusian House of SS. Maria et Hieronymus on mount Montello, near Treviso, Italy]. Decoration: illuminated initial 'C' in silver (tarnished) on a blue ground with white dots, the body of the letter filled with white vine-stems on a red ground and defined in green; the printed text is surrounded by an illuminated border of thick blue with thin white painted lines and thick silver (tarnished) lines, the upper portion with a bar of green laurel leaves, the outer and lower margins with blue, green, and maroon flowers, silver dots and black pen-work, the lower margin with an empty green laurel wreath for a coat of arms (not supplied). Capitals highlighted in yellow throughout.
