Description:
View of Deansgate, Manchester, showing the section of Deansgate where it meets St Mary's Gate. The distinctive Baroque turret tower at the north-west corner of the Royal Exchange building can be seen in the distance with the corner of the Exchange Building, which offered offices on its upper floors and street level shopping visible in the foreground. Some of the shop fronts have awnings protruding out over the pavement and pedestrians can be seen milling around the area, most are blurry figures in the distance. The building was another devastated by bombing in the 1940's Blitz, it was redeveloped in the 1960s as the site of an office & retail building called Speaker's House.
