Description:
Interior view of the hall in The Cottage, Walton Heath, looking towards the staircase. The staircase has a half landing and is carpeted; the balustrade is wooden with spherical finials to the newel posts, a large leaded window lights up the staircase and hallway. The floor of the hall is wooden and scattered with a good number of rugs and the hall area is separated from the staircase by wooden arcading supported by Ionic columns. There is a timber beamed ceiling visible and the walls have wooden dado panelling. Unidentified paintings hang in the hall and there are wooden tables and chairs situated around the walls. The architect Bertram Vaughan Johnson designed the house and the photograph was taken for the owner S. Bostock.
