Description:
|
Stereoscope view of Llyn-yr-afranc [Llyn yr Afanc], or Beaver Pool. Two albumen prints, displayed side by side showing a view of the lake. A wooded bank is to the left of the image and behind it rises a hill called Craig-glan-Conwy. In the far distance are seen the Craig-y-gwalch and the hills above Gwydir. The lake was named after the Afanc sometimes also called Addanc; a lake monster from Welsh mythology. Its description varies; described variously as resembling a crocodile, a beaver or dwarf-like creature, and is sometimes said to be a demon.
