Description:
|
Albumen print of the exterior of Conwy Castle and suspension bridge, Wales. Built by Edward I between 1283 and 128. North-east view of the castle which sits on a rocky coastal ridge with the River Conwy to the right. The circular, crenelated King’s Tower and Chapel Tower are foremost. The Conwy Suspension Bridge is shown from the left leading to the castle, over the river. It was built by Thomas Telford between 1822 and 1826. The bridge deck is suspended by four tiers of two chains each carried over castellated towers that have a central archway over the road with machicolation.
