The interior of the dyeing lab in the main UMIST building on Sackville Street; Taken from the SW corner of the lab the shot is angled NE and shows three long wooden work tables in a single row each spanning nearly the entire width of the room. These all have porcelain sinks fixed to both ends by metal brackets and cut into their surfaces ten square blocks each containing six circular holes made to fit the white beakers used in the lab. Against the northern wall there are two glass fronted cupboards with peaked tops both of which lead into a pipe that runs from them to a fixed central point on the wall. Between these is a piece of equipment which comprises of metal tubs of various sizes stood in a row and linked by pipes with taps on the wall above each of the tubs. The eastern wall has a box clock of a style similar to those found in many of the rooms around the building fixed to a central pillar standing between two arches. These provide access to a separate smaller section of the room where there is a wooden cupboard containing many phials and bottles and next to the doorway in the NW corner a set of dials fixed to the wall with pipes leading from them. The ceiling of the lab is vaulted with three supporting beams angled so that they meet above the centre of the chamber. The Dyeing lab was located on floor F of the building in the South west corner. There is a small number “56” printed in the bottom right corner of the image.
